About Greenlea Homestead

Greenlea was the homestead of the Cornfoot family who farmed approximately 1200 acres between Mt Biggs Road and Mingaroa Road. It was built around 1912-14 in the Art Nouveau style that pre dated Art Deco and would have been very modern for its time.
It is largely original with only the addition of a veranda and garage at the rear to set it apart from the original design.
The Cornfoot family resided here until the late 1950's after which it was briefly a private school called St Davids. Four more families made it their home before the present owners acquired it in 1997. The gardens have since been redeveloped in keeping with the original layout and the house interior renovated in period wall papers and furnishings. They consider themselves caretakers of what is an important part of the districts heritage.
